After seeing Crystal Castles all over the streets of Austin during SXSW, I never had a chance to actually check them out live. Everytime they were supposed to play dates in NYC, they couldn’t cross the border from Canada because of visa issues. CMJ was the only date I remember them playing. I still like you CC, just make sure you make it into town this time. They play next Friday, May 25th of all places at the American Museum of Natural History (wtf!?) with Le Castle Vania, then rush off to perform late nite in Brooklyn at Studio B.
Been digging their new demo ‘Knights’ after hearing it on the Kitsuné Maison 4 compilation that’s gonna be out on June 11th. She sounds like Justin rushin’ off to blow chunks after every meal. Pretty catchy. CC will release an EP called Untrust Us on S.L.U. Records later this summer. Also check out that remix of Dragonette’s ‘I Get Around’ who were in town earlier this week. Different from the original, repetitive but pretty tight.

This band is one of the worst pieces of shit I have ever heard. It’s amazing that such trash can get so much recognition and hype, this act is taking it to a whole new level. It’s amazing that a band doesn’t even have to be remotely talented anymore. It all comes down to who your pals and PR people are, doesn’t it… Or what fashion scene leeches onto you.
These guys suck so hard…. makes me want to give up on new music altogether. What’s the point at this stage? Where have the innovators and songwriters all gone….sigh.
Isn’t everyone sick of these “acts”? The smoke and mirrors and costumes. Quit with the gimmicks and halloween outfits and give us some credible music and art.

These “acts” are what music has always been give me a an “act” ever that hasnt been like this at one point? Getting a style or fan and keeping it, thats how music works!
Who cares if they dont sing beautifully or if they do not even sing they just dance! Show me that they do not have talent?
Your severly confused unless you like classical music and then you are correct in your assumption but even a classically trained pianist has to accept that CC boy can play a mean SNES tune!

Crystal Castles are fresh and innovative, I’ve been waiting for something new in music for years, maybe 10 years, and Crystal Castles are what I’ve been waiting for. Not since Aphex Twin and Kid A has electronic music sounded so fresh and inspiring to me. They make me want to start playing keyboards. Yes the girl screams sometimes and a small brain like Sarah Dagger’s thinks it’s talentless but that’s their beauty, they have the screams on one song and the next track will be the most beautiful lullabye invented in 2025. For example Knights, Magic Spells, Untrust Us, even Crimewave.
