White Williams

White Williams was one of the acts that truly stood out for me at this year’s, in my opinion, bland SXSW. (Check out this great post on Coolfer about the amount of March glut down in Austin these days.)

Not knowing anything about him, (Is he from San Francisco or Cincinnati?) WW was a pleasant surprise after checking out Dandi Wind at the Tigerbeat6 showcase. WW’s smooth vocal delivery, grooving basslines and electronic keyboard inflections immediately got me hooked. Definitely some smooth and groove stuff. He sang sillouetted behind full white acetate panels with a bass player and keyboards. Plus there was a paper puppet show performed by friends going on at the same time. Truly performance art. Here’s hoping for a solid breakout year and some sort of album release or news soon, cause I want to hear more.
