A Sunny Day In Glasgow | The Sunniest Day Ever EP

Fluxblog first turned me on to A Sunny Day In Glasgow and after reading that their music sounds like “the work of a group fully immersed in the underground pop aesthetics” of college radio circa 1983 - 1992, I knew that this EP would be right up my alley.

The Sunniest Day Ever is a Creation Records junkie’s gem. The 5-tracks that make up the EP are filled with ethereal melodies and otherworldly vocals that swim throughout the dense layers of distorted guitar and noise. “C’mon” may be a bit difficult to handle on first listen, but after a few repeats it shows it’s shimmering beauty, while “The Best Summer Ever” was an instant hit. With all the noise and distortion, one would think that the EP would be slightly depressing, hence making the title of the EP a tad bit ironic, however, it remains suprisingly upbeat throughout. A gleaming debut from this Philadelphia trio.

Ben Daniels wrote and recorded all of the songs on the EP, with his two sisters, Lauren and Robin sharing vocal duties. Order The Sunniest Day Ever here and “The Best Summer Ever” is available below for your downloading pleasure. As always, there’s more tracks on the band’s MySpace page.
